Republicans Should Pay Attention

The voters in Michigan have sent a message! Conservative Defeats Incumbent 'Big Spender' in Mich. GOP Primary Being an incumbent doesn't mean your seat is safe. The entrenched politicians should beware!
First-term U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz of Michigan lost his chance for re-election in Tuesday's Republican primary, swept aside by former State Rep. Tim Walberg, the favorite of conservative groups.
Advocates of limited government and lower taxes were among those hailing Walberg's win. Congressional Republicans should sit up and take note, they said.
It's time for more conservatives to step up and say, "NO MORE!" We hear that accusation that the right wing/evangelicals have taken over the Republican Party. I wish that were true, but this victory in Michigan just might give those of us who actually fall into that category some serious hope.
"Schwarz is a poster child for what has gone wrong with the Republican majorities in Congress. By nominating Tim Walberg, the voters in Michigan's Seventh District sent a loud message to the GOP Congressional leadership about the importance of turning away from their big government ways of recent years.
And those in Congress wonder why they have such low approval ratings. Shame on them! It's always been rather obvious, yet they have been oblivious.
"Michigan voters made it clear that they still want Congress to limit government, reduce wasteful spending and cut taxes," said Pat Toomey, the Club for Growth president.
It's time for Wisconsin voters to get off their duffs, and get to work like the Michigan voters did, and send the same message to Washington.
