The Formidable French

France may send only 200 troops to int'l force
The UN revealed suspicions that France would only send a symbolic number of troops to join the international force in south Lebanon, Army Radio reported Thursday morning. The country first announced it would send thousands of soldiers and had hinted that they would play a key role in leading the international force; now France plans on sending a mere 200 troops to the Middle East.
Well, what a shock! The French can't keep their word. This is news? When I first heard that France planned on sending troops to southern Lebanon, I honestly couldn't believe they would actually "volunteer" to do anything, other than surrender. The French flag should be changed, by "world opinion" to a white background with a yellow stripe down the middle!
Secretary of State Kofi Annan planned to meet with French president Jacques Chirac to discuss the issue in an attempt to persuade him to boost French participation.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall at that meeting! They should send Ann Coulter, instead of the wuss, Annan.
