Another Slam of Republicans in FdL County

Mike Mentzer had an editorial in the Fond du Lac Distorter criticizing the Fond du Lac GOP. I posted the pertinent parts and gave my opinion, naturally. Jim Kiser, the Vice Chair of the Fond du Lac County Republican Party responded to Mentzer's column. Today, there is a letter in response to Jim's response:
'Just because we can, should we?' I would like to defend Mr. Mentzer's (The Reporter Managing Editor Michael Ment-zer's) comments of June 25 regarding the appearance of the Republican Party in the Memorial Day parade. I felt this display of Mark Green banners and the Republican Party elephant was not only inappropriate but divisive as well. If Mark Green (Republican gubernatorial candidate) had been there, he should have been embarrassed by the setting in which his political advertisement was being used. Mr. Kiser (Fond du Lac County Republican Party vice chair and Fond du Lac County co-chair of Green for Wisconsin) defends his First Amendment rights. Given that premise, what if the American Nazi Party wanted to march in the parade? Why should we stop at politics? Let's say Wal-Mart, McDonald's and Charter Communications wanted to march with their banners. Many people in the Fond du Lac area support those businesses. They have First Amendment rights as well. There is a reason why the Democratic Party chose not to march in the parade. It is something called tact. Does the Republican Party understand what tact is? Maybe not. Memorial Day is supposed to be a day when we set aside our political differences, Republican, Democrat and Independent; our religious differences; our ethnic differences and come together as one people, Americans. Our national motto says it: E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one). We come together for one purpose and that is to pay respect to our fallen soldiers, sailors and airmen who went forth to protect this nation. The politicizing can wait until tomorrow. As for rights under the First Amendment, I quote former President Bill Clinton, who said not long ago, "This worst possible reason for doing something is just because you could." Just because we can lawfully do something, should we? Jeff Reese Fond du Lac
I'm getting dizzy! No, not ditzy (although that can be debated), completely dizzy! Have you ever been to any parade where there was NOT some representation of politics? I haven't. For Mr. Reese to quote Bill Clinton, well, that quote speaks for itself.... picture Monica. No, wait, don't!
