North Korea
According to a report on Yahoo News, which admittedly, isn't usually a site I read, North Korea was aiming towards the area of Hawaii. I'm not really great in geography, but if I'm not mistaken, there isn't much around Hawaii.
Russia and China don't seem to be taking all this seriously, but then, I've never felt either country was truly allied with the U.S. on this matter.
It sounds like Senator Feinstein (D-CA) wants to have a chat with Kim Jon-Il. Ok, but isn't that what former President Clinton did, or rather his Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright back in 1998? Everybody walked away all friendly, agreeing that he won't test fire missiles.
The first mistake is always to trust the word of a dictator. Democracies don't threaten other democracies. However, the egomaniacal types are always ready to destroy, or try to destroy their neighbors.
Owen, over at Boots & Sabers had a link to pictures of North Korea a while ago. I took a look at them, and was amazed. I've been a lot of places, but I've never seen any place so drab. Very few cars were on the streets, there were high fences to keep the citizens from getting near the river's beach. I wish I could find the link, but alas, it's late, and I must be missing it. If I find it, I'll be sure to link it here in the future.
North Korea may have targeted Hawaii to show the United States that it was capable of landing a missile there, or because it is home to the headquarters of the U.S. Pacific fleet, the paper said. This does not make me happy. This little guy may be a lot more dangerous than many have thought recently. Yes, he appears to be a 2 year old throwing a tantrum, but even 2 year olds can do damage.
An alternative explanation might be that a missile could accidentally hit land if fired towards Alaska, the report said.Gee, this makes me feel better.
