Adventures in Shopping......
....with a bloomin' teenager! Ok, where was I when girls decided it was "cool" to dress like a complete and utter slob? It's either that, or dressing like a major "hootchy mama". I've seen both, and I'm not impressed by either. Neither is anyone I know. So, what makes teenage girls think they look "cool"? I realize that times have changed since I was a teen, but I do remember I at least look the part.
Wandering around in a store with my 13 year old granddaughter, I thought I'd have a coronary. The choices provided for girls her age are extremely limited. Like I said, they're either "trashy" or ..... well, "trash"! The kid is taller than I am, but not by that much (maybe an inch or so, and I'm 5'2 3/4), so why she wants jeans that are made for someone at least 6'6" is beyond me. It's a waste of material, and the bottoms get all nasty and shredded. "YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND! YOU'RE OLD!" Uh huh.... durn tootin' I don't understand! And yeah, I'm old, but not so old that I know what looks like garbage, and what doesn't.
Then, comes the major attitude! "I don't want to be here!" Well, neither did I! "I don't want anything!" If I don't get her clothes for school, they won't be gotten. "Don't touch me!" when I tried to keep her from getting hit by a shopping cart. It was a major effort on my part to keep from teaching her to fly! WHAM!
$268 later, I'm seriously considering taking up drinking!
