U.N. Gun Summit
Perhaps more liberty minded prevailed, for now, although it's actually just the wording of the draft that kept it from being adopted. The U.N. held a summit targeting guns. This is nothing new, the U.N. has been trying to disarm law abiding citizens for years. Their allies, the anti-2nd Amendment crowd (aka left wing Democrats) have been right along side them in this endeavor.
The UN Gun Summit is over, and gun owners have won for now. The conference ended in chaos on Friday afternoon when the various nations in attendance failed to agree on a written plan of action on how to deal small arms and light weapons. Because no document could be produced, no agreement could be made on continuing the process with further meetings and summits. For now, the UNÂs Program of Action on Small Arms and light weapons is over. No further meetings are scheduled. At least not official meetings.
If the various countries that support the end of civilian firearms ownership (and the list is long) decide to get together for informal private meetings, they can pick and choose who they want to be a part of the process.Sen. Herb Kohl sent my husband a letter in response to our concerns about this summit about 2 months ago. He stated that the U.N. doesn't want to take our guns away from us. That he supports hunting and sport shooting. Yes, well, Sen. Kohl is obviously not paying attention. Although I've never owned a gun, and am not an "gun enthusiast", I do believe that private citizens should be able to defend their homes, families and property from anyone who wants to cause them harm. I'm a strong supporter of concealed carry laws, and MIGHT consideracquiringg a handgun if Wisconsin ever gets out of the "nanny" business. Just one more reason the "potted plant/empty suit" needs to be replaced. Someone who can cancel out Feingold's votes against American citizens is an even better reason.
