Israeli Troops Enter Lebanon
Israeli ground troops enter Lebanon
Despite the diplomatic activity, Israel is in no hurry to end its offensive, which it sees as a unique opportunity to crush Hezbollah. The Islamic militants appear to have steadily built up their military strength after Israel pulled its troops out of southern Lebanon in 2000.Some people are believing diplomacy will work for this "crisis". I don't happen to be one of them.
At daybreak Wednesday, a small number of Israeli troops were operating just across the border inside southern Lebanon, looking for tunnels and weapons, the Israeli military said without providing any more details. These people are fighting for their right to exist. Why would they give details?
"This is an operation which is very measured, very local," he said. "This is no way an invasion of Lebanon. This is no way the beginning of any kind of occupation of Lebanon."The anti Israeli bunch (who are also anti American)are not going to let that one go.
Bush said he suspects Syria is trying to reassert influence in Lebanon more than a year after Damascus ended what had effectively been a long-term military occupation of its smaller, weaker neighbor. They should be bombing Syria, instead of Lebanon! This bombing is going to anger the Lebanese civilians, but they should throw Hezbollah out on their own. Yes, I do have sympathy for the innocents caught in the middle of this, but to paraphrase a familiar saying "People die when good men do nothing". It's time for the "good men" to stand up against the terrorists in their midst. There seems to be a lot of confusion about when the Americans in Lebanon are going to be able to get out. Some anger is inevitable, but it is NOT Bush's fault! H/T: Captain's Quarters
