Murtha... again

Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa) is once again, letting us know he's not going away. In a news piece on CNSnews.com he is blaming Iraq for the increasing deficit and potentially helping our enemies.
"Our ability to project power to protect Americans wherever and whenever necessary is no longer at the level necessary to ensure success," he said.
Perhaps if the United States presented a united front to the rest of the world, there would be no worry?
"Because of the war in Iraq, our military is overcommitted, stretched thin," Murtha added, noting that U.S.-led coalition forces have spent "more than three and a half years in Iraq."
He doesn't have much faith in our military, does he. And I don't want to hear he was a "war hero". I've heard it before. I took 17 years of ballet, that doesn't make me a ballerina now, does it? Key word... WAS!
To handle these costs, the U.S. has gone down "a reckless path of deficit spending," Murtha stated.
Since he is a member of congress, he is one of the many who has sent national spending out of Cottrell. "Pork barrel" spending seems to be looked upon by all members of congress as their right.
"Some say staying in Iraq is the answer. I disagree," Murtha noted. "There are two policies: One is President Bush's policy, and that's stay the course. And my policy, which is redeploy as soon as practical."
Translation: Stay, fight and WIN ... or ... CUT AND RUN. Personally, I prefer a victory than a tail tucked between my legs, and a yellow stripe down my back.
The U.S. military's redeployment would not mean abandoning Iraq, he said. "Continued diplomatic efforts are tremendously important and must be vigorously pursued."
Wasn't a LOT of "diplomacy" tried? And didn't that said diplomacy fail? Picture the bully on the playground. You can talk all you want, and continue right on chatting while he pummels your face in the ground. When is it time to quit talking?
Murtha made the comments after receiving the 2006 Edmund S. Muskie Distinguished Public Service Award from the Center for National Policy, which used the ceremony to praise the congressman's 37 years as a Marine officer and 16 terms in the House of Representatives.
Time for this guy to retire, or be "retired".
But while Murtha received a warm welcome at the lunchtime event, a small group of protestors collected outside. "We came out here because Congressman Jack Murtha was getting an award for distinguished public service, and we think that his service to our country in the past few years has been anything but distinguished," Kristinn Taylor, an organizer of the protest, told Cybercast News Service.
Other than his bad mouthing our troops, what has he done lately? I haven't heard of anything, although, that doesn't mean he hasn't done SOMETHING, right?
"For a Vietnam veteran, he ought to know better than to do to this generation of troops in combat what his Democratic Party did to the men and women serving in Vietnam -- undermining their morale, giving aid and comfort to the enemy and telling them they can't win," he said.
Murtha, and those like him, are an embarrassment, not the brave men and women who are fighting to provide the freedoms we enjoy in this country.
