Pet peeves
One of my biggest pet peeves are bad drivers. Even telemarketers don't come close to how annoyed I get with serious whackos on the road. We spent last night in Dayton, northeast of Houston, today we are in Houston proper. It's Saturday, you wouldn't think traffic would be too bad on I-10, and it really wasn't. But even by Houston standards, the morons were out in full force. I have no idea why they bother to post speed limits, no one pays a bit of attention to them. And I don't just mean the bozos flying past you doing 80 in a 60 MPH constuction zone. It's the ones doing 35 or 40 that insist on moving into your lane when you are trying to keep up with traffic. They don't just do it once, they do it repeatedly! You move over to pass... they speed up just enough so you can't get by them without hitting something... they speed up a little more, then pull over in front you again.... and SLOW DOWN! This process is repeated until you can't take it anymore and fear for your life! And I don't mean the numerous old beaters you see around this area for whom you KNOW insurance is a foreign word. It's the brand new mega SUVs.
Another annoying type of driver is the tailgater. This one needs a serious refresher course on what the SAFE distance is for one car traveling at a particular speed behind another. And it isn't measured in inches! Do they not teach that anymore in drivers ed? Good grief! And you don't even get kissed as they run up behind you for the close encounter!
To a lesser degree, I find the person who properly signals a lane change, but forgets to turn the bloomin' thing off! Watching a blinker for miles on end tends to grate the nerves!
Ok, just had to get that off my chest! I have now regained my composure. :)
