Another Useless Resolution

Iran has rejected a UN resolution. Big news here. Or not. Iran Rejects Watered-Down UN Resolution on Nuclear Activities First off, if it's "watered down", what good is it to begin with?
Iranian ambassador Javad Zarif repeated his government's long-held stance that the nuclear program was peaceful and posed no threat, and that Iran would not bow to threats. He said the resolution, passed on Monday, was illegal.
This is the same government who is backing Hezbollah and wants to see Israel wiped off the map. Yes, very peaceful indeed.
The resolution passed 14-1, with Qatar -- the only Arab or Muslim country currently serving on the council -- voting against it. Qatari ambassador Nassir al-Nasser said the resolution would only worsen tensions "at a time when our region is in flames." Iran should be given more time to respond to a package of incentives offered earlier by the council's permanent members plus Germany (P5+1), he said.
They've had plenty of time to stop their nuclear program. More time would allow them to progress even farther. Qatar, as most Middle Eastern nations would prefer not to be blown off the planet, so perhaps they are not seriously thinking of the consequences of a nuclear Iran?
Iran has already missed an earlier deadline to respond to the incentives package, and says it will only make its position known on August 22.
Ahmadinejad has something up his sleeve for the 22nd. Wouldn't it be better to make sure he isn't able to "present" his answer?
The U.S. and its allies believe Iran's civilian nuclear program is a cover for attempts to develop nuclear weapons. Iran denies the accusation.
Of course they deny it. They've been denying a lot of things lately, the Holocaust, Israel's right to exist. Does any sane person believe they'd admit to developing nuclear capabilities?
