Amendment - Ban Flag Burning

I'm real fond of the 1st Amendment. Without it, we'd be no better than barbarians (the rest of the Constitution is pretty cool too). I'm also very much against burning the flag the represents our country, most especially by Americans who are protected by that 1st Amendment. Should we really have an amendment to the Constitution to protect it? A law, yes, I can understand that, no problem. I'm quite iffy on an actual amendment. It seems to me that when someone burns a flag on public property, they are already breaking the law (probably several), and should be arrested. As I've stated many times, I'm no legal scholar. However, common sense tells me this is not an issue that should be at the top of the Senate's list right now.
