Fried Coke?

As a native Texan, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by some of the things they come up with, but this one has me scratching my head. I haven't been to the Texas State Fair since I was pregnant, so I'm not familiar with this competition. Praline treat, 'Fried Coke' among Big Tex honors
The judges made their official pick Monday: Fried Praline Perfection took home the crown as the tastiest fried delicacy at the second annual Big Tex Choice Awards Contest. The coconut and pecan pralines, battered and deep fried, of course, beat out fried macaroni and cheese, a deep-fried cosmopolitan and other not-so-healthy treats to win the coveted title.
Now this sounds pretty tasty. I love pralines....so sweet, they make your teeth ache. It's not one of those things you want every day, that's for sure. Add the deep frying, and I'd say you might as well go ahead and buy some clothes a couple sizes bigger. But what on earth is "fried coke"?
Abel Gonzales Jr., who won the tastiest award last year with his fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, said he knew the praline treat would be stiff competition. Still, he was thrilled with the creativity award for his latest creation, Fried Coke, which combines Coca-Cola flavored nuggets with Coke syrup and whipped cream.
Well, ok, I guess I would try.... one. Hey, it might even be really good, so I'd try two or three. :) But now I'm curious about fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
