Another Shameless Theft

So, now I'm steeling this from Kathy at Stepping Right Up, who stole it from the Badger Blogger, who shamelessly stole it from the Early Spin, who in turn stole it from RedState.com :
Time to pull out of Wisconsin There were 28 shottings this past weekend in Milwaukee. After 175 years of occupation, we are sseemingly unable to extract ourselves from the quaqmire that is apparently is Wisconsin. I say it is time America cut its lossess and pull out of Wisconsin NOW. We currently have over 7000 Army national Guard troops based there yet there seems to be no end to the carnage. Please join mme in writing to Rep. Jack Murtha to get this terrible situation the attention it deserves. 15 in Haditha is nothing compared to the horrors perpetrated month after month after month in Wisconsin. Its time we brought our people home.
I talked to a good friend of mine in Houston. Now Houston is not know as being the friendliest place, but they only had 6 murders down there over the weekend. For an area that has a population about the size of the whole state of Wisconsin, I'd say they were doing a LOT better than we are up here. However, they do have a whole slew of refugees, with the NO games trying to take over territory from the Houston gangs, so I suppose it is to be expected. sigh... Sad!

Illegal Shooter

Perhaps I'm being pessimistic, but it really is no surprise to me that Octaviano Jaurez-Corro, the man who went on a shooting spree in South Shore Park, is an illegal.

Algore

It's not bad enough we had the Dixie Clucks bad mouthing the administration in England. Now add Algore into the mix. Some people are just sore losers, but this guy takes the proverbial cake. Why can't the libs just admit defeat and try to work with the winners, instead of trying to undermine everything they do? Gore's commit: "If you have a renegade band of rightwing extremists who get hold of power, the whole thing goes to the right." Well, gee, what a novel idea! And what happens when a bunch of LEFTwing extremists gets into power? Does it maintain the balance? What a putz! Calling President Bush a "rightwing extremist" is, IMHO, is absolutely absurd. As much as I admire the President, he's actually a bit too moderate for my taste. :) So, Algore is pushing his movie, of course he's going to badmouth anyone who thinks he's an idiot. Is the planet going to go poof in a matter of hours? Days? Weeks? I don't think so, but then, I'm not the expect that Mr. Gore "appears" to be. The implication if he had won the presidency back in 2000, we'd all be safe from Global Warming is indicated in another article in the Guardian. This planet was around long before we showed up, and it'll be hanging around long after we're replaced by whatever God has decided. Do we screw things up? Oh yeah, we definitely do, mostly by that ME attitude that became prevalent in the '60's and forgot to go away when we all grew up. One thing I've noticed, the more "environmentally aware" people are, the bigger the mess is when they leave their rallies. Go figure!

General McCaffrey's Academic Report

I received an email from my cop friend in Texas a couple of weeks ago with a .pdf attachment of Gen. McCaffrey's report. I forwarded it to everyone I didn't think would get ticked for me sending such a large file and heard this evening that it was linked to Jessica McBride's blog. (Yep, she was one of those I didn't think would get ticked. LOL) I was advised to link to the site that now has it posted, so, here it is: Academic Report-Trip to Iraq and Kuwait, April 13-20, 2006 Of course, we won't read/hear any of the good news on the MSM, that would be too positive, and we mustn't have anything positive reported about Iraq. HUMPH! grrrrrrrrrrr Thanks Jeremy, for reminding me! :)

Mark Green

I went to a fundraiser this evening for Congressman Mark Green. Each time I hear him speak, I am more and more convinced he would make an excellent Governor for the state of Wisconsin. Not to mention, he actually has a personality, unlike someone who shall remain nameless (cough...Doyle). Of the things he spoke of, I found the issues of this state being one of the highest taxed in the country, and the UW fiasco (new admissions and U.S. Bank blackmail), the fact that 48 states have a concealed carry law and those shameless attack ads the most interesting. Since it's late, and I'm tired, I'm not going to recap everything he said. But, if you are interested in Mark's stand on the issues, check out his website: Mark Green for Governor.

Leiney's...er.... Lautenschlager's Lawsuits

What is it with this woman? If you sneeze the wrong way, you're going to get sued! Ok, so maybe some pharmaceutical companies sold some overpriced pills.... no surprise there. But even I know it takes a long time to recoup the money that was invested in creating those prescriptions and OTC's. Research is expensive from what I hear, not to mention very time consuming. So, here goes my ignorace showing again: If the state is not the person paying for those overpriced drugs to begin with, why is the state getting the money from the lawsuits? Why isn't it going to those people who actually bought the drugs?

Blogging is Dangerous

I had no idea that people who posted their opinions on the internet could be in danger. Evidently, I was wrong. Check it out on Little Green Footballs. What a strange world we live in!

Perfect Babies

This is just going way too far! Designer babies? Killing a baby because he/she is not perfect? What the hell has happened to people? These are human beings!!! I'm just at a total loss!

A Forwarded Email

I got this email from a friend in Michigan. She doesn't know who wrote it, but it sounds fairly accurate as to how things are these days.
As you all listen to news about student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things you should be aware of: My wife is in charge of the English (As-a-2nd-Language) Dept at a large southern California High School. Her school is designated as a Title 1 School. This means its students average lower socio-economic and income levels. Most of the schools you are hearing about (i.e South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc.) where these students are protesting are also Title 1 Schools. My wife tells me that 100% of the students in her school and other Title 1 Schools are on the "free" breakfast, "free" lunch programs. When I say "free" I'm not talking of a glass of milk and a roll but, a full breakfast with a cereal bar, fruits and juices that would make a Marriott Hotel proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. My wife estimates that well over 50% of the students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have CELL PHONES.... how very interesting! The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or family to watch their kids. My wife was ordered to spend $700,000 on her department or risk losing funds for the upcoming year, even though there was little need for anything. Her budget was already substantial. She ended up buying new computers for their Computer Learning Center. One month later, half of these Computers had been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students.. who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a "free" education in America! My wife has had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students, some only being here less than 3 months! They raised so much hell with the female teachers and substitutes... calling them "Putas" -- whores, and throwing things that the teachers were in tears. Free Medical, Free Education, Free Food, Free Daycare, etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in America but to demand privileges and entitlements??? To my bleeding-heart liberal friends who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society (because they LIKE their gardener or housekeeper) and like to pay less for tomatoes... SPEND SOME TIME in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs! Higher insurance, Higher medical costs, Medical Facilities Closing, More Crime, Lower Standards of Education in Schools, Overcrowding, "NEW" Diseases, etc. etc. etc. For me, I'll pay more for my tomatoes thanks! We need to wake up! The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right minds really think these illegal immigrants will leave and return voluntarily? There are many hard working Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way. It does, however, have everything to do with culture. A third-world culture that DOES NOT value Education, that accepts children getting pregnant, dropping out of school by 14 or 15 and who refuses to assimilate... and, an American culture that has become so WEAK and politically correct that we don't have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your BLOOD BOIL, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know!

Memorial Day

When I go to bed tonight, I have two specific soldiers I will be saying prayers for... LCPL Alexander Mauro, a Marine stationed at Camp Falluja, Iraq, and 1LT Naquava Nichols, U.S. Army, stationed in Kuwait. I "adopted" both of these brave young soldiers a few months ago, and correspond with them as often as their duties will allow. These are the 5th and 6th of my "adoptees" and I don't feel like I do enough for them. The Marines want American made cigarettes, socks, any kind of food that isn't from the chow hall. Basically, Alexander speaks for the rest of his unit through our emails, but unfortunately, because of where they are, they can't give any personal information, so I don't know a great deal about them, other than the fact they all have a great sense of humor. Naquava asks for books and DVD's for her troops. I've never met these young people face to face, and don't really have to, although it would be nice. I have a picture of Naquava on my wall (pretty girl, hoping to be with her fiance', Mike soon) and look at it every time I get an email from her, or a not needed "thank you" note from her. She'll be returning to Ft. Hood in either September or November (leave it to the Army to not be able to make up it's mind) and I have full intention of being there to greet her, some how or another! One of my first "adoptees" is still in Killeen (for those not familiar with Texas, it's right by Ft. Hood). He and his wife have become good friends, and I visit them every time I'm in that vicinity. So, getting on the post shouldn't be a major problem. :) I hope! The reason I bring this up? Yes, tomorrow we honor those who have fallen, but we should also give great honor to those who are serving right now on our behalf. I am grateful for my dad, who was burned so bad during World War II, he was no longer able to have children, yet still a handsome man. This was the reason I was adopted myself, along with 3 others. These men and women sacrifice in many ways, and it always seems to be in the giving mode. Yes, many have died in ugly wars, but many more have lived to make a difference in the world, in small ways and large. I thank God everyday, not just on Memorial Day, that there are such men and women in our country!

U.W.'s Admissions Policy

After listening to talk radio, reading what many of our state politicians had to say, and then listening to my husband, who is a U.W. grad, I wondered why there are any places on any application of any kind for race or gender. If we're suppose to be color blind, then why is color a factor for anything? If gender isn't a factor, then only use initials on the application so no one can tell if it's a male or female. Am I missing something?

GRRRRRRRR

Check out Rich Tucker's column on Townhall.com!
Picture an ol' broad having a hissy fit.... kicking, screaming and throwing things. NOT a pretty picture! Personally, I'd be willing to cough up a few bucks for a fence if it had turrets with machine guns every 200 feet. :) Ok, so I'm a sick puppy! :) No, I don't want to shoot pregnant women and children. However, those yahoos bringing in drugs and such are another story. I seriously love the idea of the guv'ment saving so much money by using the Minutemen's idea of putting gypsum in those holes. Naturally, it's an inexpensive and effective way to combat a problem (or at least put a dent in it), so they won't even consider such a thing. :/

Booster Seats

On June 1, another new law goes into effect for Wisconsin. sigh.... I understand wanting to keep our kids safe, but this has got to be one of those "feel good" laws they continuously come up with for "the sake of the children". Who's going to pay for all those booster seats? What if you have 4 kids, all under the age of 8? How will they fit into a car designed to hold 5 people, max? Is Madison going to buy all those parents a new car? Obviously, common sense was not a factor when they came up with this one. Thanks to my state Senator, Carol Roessler, my 7 year old granddaughter will not be visiting us this summer. Instead of spending money on her in this state, I will be driving down to Texas to spoil her rotten. Why on earth would I purchase a booster seat from the WalMart in Beaver Dam or Fond du Lac, buy her airline tickets (from Midwest Airlines), spend oodles of money buying her new clothes at various stores around my area, take her to various attractions around this state, when she won't need said seat after September? What would I do with the silly thing AFTER she's too big? I have a devil of a time convincing her she has to sit in the back seat as is, and I'm going to strap her into something she'll completely has hissies over? I don't think so! So, my money is going to Texas next month. Sorry!

Resolution 25

As usual, Owen over at Boots & Sabers got it right! I couldn't add anything to that, even if I wanted to! :)

RNC

I brought in the mail a little while ago, and among the many "gimmee money's", there was a large envelope from the RNC. Being the curious type, I opened it to see what they have wasted money on this time. Well, I have received ANOTHER certificate of appreciation. sigh.... If it's not some pin to poke holes in my clothes, it's some useless certificate, which of course, is suppose to guilt me in to sending them money. Well, it's not going to work! First off, I have given enough money to the RNC this year, and for what? For them to waste it sending useless trickets around the country? To help elect REAL Republicans nationwide? Doesn't seem to be working on that front. No, Mr. Mehlman, you aren't goading me into sending you any more money! I'm keeping what little I've got LOCAL! And please, stop listening to the liberal left.... we are NOT all rich Republicans!!

A True Story

I was adopted. Personally, I'm of Irish and American Indian decent. But the wonderful lady who became my mother was first generation Lebanese. When I was growing up, I'd listen to stories of all the relatives, when they came over, how they prospered, etc. One story that has always stuck in my mind, and heart, was WHY her family came to America. You see, being a Christian in Lebanon has never been safe. Her family lived in a village/town with a name I can't even begin to spell. It starts with an M though. When her mother was a teenager, some Muslims decided they didn't want those infidels (Christians) living in their area, so they decided to do some slaughtering. As luck would have it, they didn't succeed in wiping out all the Christians, and my grandmother was put on a boat to the "Land of the Free". She was only about 16 at the time, and it was a big country. As things went back then, she already had some family living in the states, so she wasn't completely alone. Oddly enough, the man she would eventually marry was from that same region and had the same thing happen to a good chunk of his family. Now, why do I share this story??? Well, I've been reading over the last few years how WE are the cause of all the terrorists attacks. It's our arrogance that has gotten us into this war. We must bring our troops home, use diplomacy. HOGWASH! My grandmother was born in 1878, LONG before George W. Bush was a gleam in his daddy's eye! Or even his granddaddy's for that matter. In 1974, I met a cousin that was over here visiting. We went to a great Lebanese restaurant in Dallas (Jamil's) and after dinner, he told us about a young lady, Christian naturally, who was brutally attacked by radical Islmists. First, she was raped and beaten. If this wasn't bad enough, the lunatics then sliced her breasts and put dynamite in the cuts and lit it. Ok, now someone tell me again that those people are peaceful!

U. S. Senate

To be perfectly honest, I have been madder'n a wet hen all day! I watched CSPAN yesterday, and kept wondering who those people were that were voting AGAINST the American people. I really believe that those Senators have become so isolated from the people they are SUPPOSE to represent, they have forgotten how they got to "that" town. Now, I can understand that someone like Feingold, who apparently doesn't give a flying flip about the majority of the citizens in Wisconsin, can be so blatant. But what I cannot fathom is those so called Republicans who are all for amnesty. Ok, they say it's not amnesty, but a rattlesnake may taste like chicken, but it's still a rattlesnake. I'll be the first to admit I'm as dumb as a box of rocks, so maybe I'm just not getting all the "fine points" of the bill. I honestly hope Congressman Sensenbrenner will continue to fight the good fight, and get those Senate Republicans back in line!
I'd like to thank Jeremy for sharing this picture with me! :) AND Kathy (of Stepping Right Up fame) for providing the bumper stickers that will be seen far and wide around Wisconsin in the not too distant future!

Murder is Justified?

We have our liberal loons in the U.S., but Great Britain has a doozy! According to Respect MP George Galloway, "...it would be morally justified for a suicide bomber to murder Tony Blair." Ok, when is murder morally justified? Did I miss that lesson? He's not talking about a traffic accident. He's talking about out and out murder. This is an elected official of the British Parliament. I think the "mother ship" left him a few gray cells short when they transported him to planet Earth! Evidently, Respect is a political party in G.B. I had to look it up and was only a tad surprised by what I found out. They call themselves The Unity Coalition who stand for Respect Equality Socialism Peace Environment Community Trade Unionism. HUMPH! Respect my left eyeball!

A Letter to the Editor

Last week, I had a piece printed in the Fond du Lac Reporter. I wasn't happy with the end project, because I had to cut a lot out to have it accepted. This is the letter:
My definition of "conservative" may be unique. However, I think all conservatives have some common ground. We do not blindly parrot the party line, unlike the Left. We are all individuals, w ith a common ground that covers many topics. First and foremost, we believe in life! That abortion has become commonplace in society does not make it right. A woman's comes nine months before; every acction has consequences. Yes, rape and incest are terrible, but they're not the innocent child' fault. We supposrt the right to defend one's home, family, property and life. Not being able to do so is ridiculous. Why can't liberal understand our desire for guns and concealed carry laws, the means for that protection? I'm sure, if given the circumstances, they'd be just as llikely to protect their families. We do not blindly follow our "leaders". We see a need for change, and work for that change, whether in the public or private sectors. We do not advocate violence. YOu did not read about us slashing tires, throwing rocks through windows, or keying cars of those who disagree with us. We believe in the sanctity of the family; one woman, one man. This shouldn't be too difficult to understand, since one of each is needed to make children. Why this concept has become "extreme" these days boggles the mind. We look to logic for our answers, not emotion. We do have emotions, however, and care deeply about those less fortunate. However, we'll give them a "hand up", not a hand out built on throwing money at problems! After all, "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime."
This was the response I saw in the paper today: Was conservative letter writer joking?
Was last Friday's letter "dissing" liberals supposed to be a joke? Considering the level of ignorance expressed, the writer couldn't be serious. Most unintentionally funny line was the claim conservatives don't blindly follow leaders. Julie
I was quite serious, but am able to see a joke when it's actually there. I have a really good sense of humor. The use of the word "dissing" tells me a great deal about the writer of the response letter. It's also obvious to me she doesn't know many conservatives! It just sounds like her "parroting" others. Luckily, I do not feel insulted. I find her short rant rather amusing! :)

Kohl & Feingold

I find it interesting that Senator Kohl voted FOR building the fence on the border. Naturally, Feingold voted against it. (Agreed to: 83-16, 1 not voting.) But when it came to making English the national language, they teamed up again, and voted NO. (Agreed to: 63-34, 3 not voting.) Why is it that the U.S. is the only country (that I'm aware of) that does NOT have a national language? They both decided to vote YES to declare English "the common and unifying language". (Agreed to: 58-39, 3 not voting.) So, what does this tells me? Neither one of our illustrious senators have a clue!

Hillary for President?

What if they held a rally, and no one came? :) According to the Tennessean.com, that is almost what happened at a "Hillary for President" rally in Nashville. Seems they were expecting at least 200 people, but only 20 showed up. Now, this amuses me!

Amnesty for Illegals

It seems the U.S. Senate doesn't listen to "we the people" at all! According to The Washington Times,
"The bill would grant citizenship to an estimated 10 million illegal aliens currently in the country and allow them to collect Social Security benefits for work they performed while illegally employed in the U. S. The bill also grants complete amnesty to employers who have drawn the estimated 12 million aliens to the U. S. by illegally providing them with jobs."
Excuse me if I'm a tad naive, but haven't they been bombarded by faxes, letters and email from the LEGAL citizens of this country telling them NOT to grant amnesty, of any kind? Senators Patrick Leahy (D-Vt) and Norm Coleman (R-MN) wanted to
"allow asylum to be granted to foreigners who have associated with terrorist organizations against their will."
I'm pretty sure someone is putting something in the water in D. C. since it's becoming more and more apparent, those people have lost their minds!

The DaVinci Code

Ok, I keep hearing all kinds of hoopla about The DaVinci Code (book and movie) being anti Christian. "Christians must boycott the movie! Don't read the book!" Too late, I read the book.... last year. It was quite entertaining actually. Did it make me question my faith? Of course not! My belief in Jesus as Christ hasn't diminished in the least. It's a work of FICTION people. Yes, there are some factual items in the story, but there's a lot more "make believe". Would my belief change if Jesus had married? Not in the least! I don't believe He did, but it wouldn't matter at all. It doesn't change the fact He is the Son of God. My suggestion... if you don't want people to spend money to go see a movie, don't make such a big deal out of it! I rarely ever see a movie in a theater. And have no intention of going to see this one. It'll be on HBO, or TMC eventually.
